What is your favourite season? Does winter make you think of snow, hot cocoa, and the cosy feeling that comes from a roaring fire? Or does summer bring to mind relaxing in the sun with a fruity drink in hand while listening to the waves crashing on the beach? Whichever time of year you prefer, it's always a good idea to prepare for what's coming. With this in mind, here is a list of five exterior upgrades that will help you get your home ready for next summer!
Seating Area
Outdoor seating is essential for the summer. Upgrade this area with outdoor sofas and cushions for a more comfortable spot in your backyard. This is the perfect time to also upgrade to weather-resistant fabrics that are easy to clean, even after it has rained all day!
Outdoor Shade
While everybody enjoys being outdoors in the summer, sometimes the sun is just too harsh! Consider installing pergola awnings over your patio to keep your seating area shaded in the summer. Pergola awnings are also great if they are installed near your conservatory, as they can be opened in the summer to keep out the maximum amount of sun and closed in the winter to allow the sun in.
The Landscape
You can also give your yard an updated look with new landscaping options this winter. Your lawn will be much greener because you have given it enough time between seasons before planting grass seed again. Then, in spring, you could plant new flowers, grass and trees for a fresher and greener look. It's exciting knowing what themes you want when designing your landscape, too!
New Pool
A swimming pool or even a splash pool is a great way to upgrade the look and feel of the exterior of your home! They are perfect for families with children. A pool can be put in at any time of year, although some people prefer to wait until the spring when it is warmer outside, and they're less likely to freeze while swimming! You don't have to install a full-sized Olympic pool either; if you aren't looking for something quite so big, consider installing an in-ground or even on-ground splash pool instead, which will still give you and your kids hours of fun but won't take up as much room.
Fresh Paint
Once the weather starts to warm up, you might begin thinking about repainting your home. Doing so now before the winter hits means that it will be easy for painters to do their job because of warmer temperatures. You can also avoid painting during peak summer months when both time and temperature are at a premium. A fresh coat of paint will increase the overall appeal of your home, and you could even consider a brightly coloured door to add a little extra spunk next summer!
There are many exterior upgrades you can do to get your home ready for the coming summer months. Create an outdoor living space that invites your family and friends to gather with these easy upgrades that will make a lasting impression on the look of your home.
