Graduate Fashion Week 2013

I had the opportunity to work at Graduate Fashion Week from Sunday until Wednesday seating guests where of course I got to see most of the shows yay and I even got to go backstage dressing at the International show and at the Gala Awards Show which was crazy but I loved it such an adrenaline rush.

Arts University Bournemouth opened the Graduate Fashion Week Catwalk and definitely made an entrance. My favourite from this show was Georgina Mulholland she definitely captured a princess like feel I'm a sucker for a beautiful dress.

On the same day I got to see Northbrook show my favourites included Lauren Marie Pooley with her white pretty creations and Emma Jane Lord who mixed fabrics and plastic together so delicately. Who knew you could shelter from the rain and still look fashionable?!

University of Salford Manchester was one of the best shows I saw with a mixture of womenswear, menswear and childrenswear. Jay Briggz was the designer who stood out with his gothic striking couture like creations. The green tinsel effect reminded me of Christmas.

I was lucky enough to meet Hannah Williams from UCA Epsom who won the Womenswear and Innovative award. I got to dress my model in her innovative white and pastel latex designs it was like nothing I had ever seen before so original and very heavyyy!!

From my very own University, Northampton, Kirandeep Bassan won the Zandra Rhodes Textiles Award. Her bold vibrant prints were amazing and am very proud that she has represented Northampton.

I was also pleased that Northampton University had adapted my groups 'Luxe Consultancy' global theme and our glass ball idea to use on the stand which they called 'Global Futures' and Northampton even came third place in the best stand contest. It has put Northampton on the map for the university to watch.

Along with the winner Lauren I particularly liked Morwenna Darwell's collection with a mix of summery yellows and sea blues it was a very wearable collection.

Lauren Smith from Edinburgh College of Art won the gold award which was well deserved it was a fun, bright and unique. She wins a four week fully paid internship with George, £20,000 to start her fashion career, plus her designs will be stocked by George as part of the new G21 Talent label. Lucky girl!!
