25 things I have learnt in 25 years

I turned 25 yesterday and not only did I think where have the years gone and also have a little freak out that I am getting close to 30, but I also started reflecting on the past few years since graduating from university and how far I have come as a person. So sit back and get ready to read my list of life lessons...

1. Don't compare yourself to others - When having a blog and spending a lot of your time on social media this naturally happens, but lately I just tell myself look how well YOU are doing.

2. If unhappy in your job change it - Since graduating I have had four jobs but I don't regret anything because each one has made me grow as a person and gain even more experience. I have always been ambitious and will never change to get where I want to be.

3. Quality friends over quantity - Before going to university, I couldn't wait to make some new friends and start over. I am lucky that I am still really close with all of them, whatever the distance. We have been on so many holidays together and always meet up regularly.

4. You can travel the world while working - I would love to be able to quit my full time job and travel the world but it's never that easy. I am lucky that I have visited lots of beautiful places including New York, Las Vegas, Budapest, Paris, Amsterdam and lots more.

5. Share your opinion - Since I was very young I had always been very quiet and would never speak up but since going to university and throwing myself into work my confidence has grown so much and I love sharing my own opinion.

6. Appreciate your loved ones -  I've always been really close to my family, I ring my mom everyday without fail and it can be hard at times to live away from my family. But every time I go home or they come to see me I always appreciate that time we have together.

7. Be prepared to wait for the one - When it came to my love life I didn't have much luck but that all changed when I moved to Stratford and met Blake. I now know that all the things that happened in the past were for a reason.

8. Take risks - I never would of thought I would end up in Stratford Upon Avon from Northampton but I went for an interview and got the job and have no regrets. It was the best decision I ever made.

9. Trust your gut - I have always been one of those people who overthinks a situation but most of the time I go with my gut and I am glad I do.

10. Mum always knows the right thing to say - If I am ever upset or need to have a good rant my mum is always on the end of the phone to cheer me up or give me advise.

11. I talk way too much - I think with this I am making up for lost time when I was so quiet as a child. Least there is never a dull moment.

12. Take lots of photos - I always wished I had studied photography as I absolutely love taking photos and the odd selfie here and there.

13. Ask for help when you need it - I have always been an independent person I like to get on and do my job, but sometimes I should forget my pride and just ask for help more.

14. If you don't ask, you don't get - I always use this motto when it comes to blogging opportunities or suggesting ideas at work. If you don't try, you will never know.

15. Things will always get better - In the past I can get really emotional about situations but I always think to myself it will get better and I will get through it.

16. Mistakes are lessons learnt - Who doesn't make mistakes were all human, but I always look back and think I can learn something from that.

17. Tomorrow is a new day - Let go of all the stresses of that day and wake up feeling refreshed.

18. I love dogs - When I was an infant I was really scared of dogs, but now I absolutely love them I dream of having my own french bulldog or dachshund.

19. Chocolate and cuddles are the best therapy - If I am having a bad day chocolate and cuddles are all I need.

20. I apologise a lot - I seem to use the word sorry everyday for no apparent reason, even when I am in someones way.

21. It's okay to be super organised - When I go on holiday I always made a plan of places to go and where to eat. It makes me feel like I am ready to conquer the world.

22. I am a shopaholic but that's okay- I treat myself to new clothes and shoes a lot, I think I am actually keeping ASOS going, but that's okay because I earn that money and can do whatever I want with it.

23. Nights in are great - When I was single I was a real party girl and I still love going on girly holidays and going to bars but a night in with the boyfriend watching a film does make me happy.

24. I have got better at saving money - At university I was all spend spend spend and was in a little bit of debt. But since working full time I have managed to save my money and I am really proud of that.

25. I don't have everything figured out - I don't know what the future has to hold but that's okay because life is all about living in the moment.

Do you relate to any of these?

  1. I'm a firm believer that if you are unhappy in your job change it, life is too short. I now work for myself and I may earn less than I did once upon a time but I'm much happier.

  4. Completely agree with a lot of these life lessons, especially appreciating your loved ones and being able to trust your gut as you can never go wrong then. Nights in are the best especially when you older!
