Since reaching my mid twenties I prefer midi skirts to mini skirts, mainly because they add a splash of sophistication to any outfit and come in an array of fabulous styles, fabrics and prints. With a longer length and cinched in waist the classic midi cut can flatters all figures and suit all ages. It's a welcome addition to any winter wardrobe too, due to the fact it keep your legs warm whilst looking well put together and it's a great alternative to wearing trousers and jeans all the time.
If you see a midi skirt you like it's best to experiment with the styling whether it's for everyday wear or evening wear. For daytime fashion, you could wear a pleated midi skirt with a simple t-shirt and an oversized striped blazer or even a white shirt or oversized knitted jumper. For evening you could dress them up with a blouse as by nature, the pleated skirt is ultra classy. Although if you want to avoid adding bulk to the bottom half of your body, it's best to team your pleated skirt with a slim-fit top like I have below.
The pleated midi skirt I am styling in today's post is actually one of my many bargains from TK Maxx. You really can find some gems in store! I picked it up for £10 and it's designed by B.Young which is also stocked on Amazon and Zalando.
The colourways (navy and burgundy) of this pleated skirt make it really easy to style, in fact I decided to use these colours from head-to-toe pairing it with my Primark snakeskin boots and striped top. The pleats, stripes and gold waistband on my skirt create a focal point and the floaty effect of the skirt makes any winter outfit look super feminine. I also paired with tights to keep my legs extra warm!
We photographed this outfit in a little village called Lowsonford along the canal. I love how pretty the photos have turned out.
