We all know the feeling your in a rush to get ready for a day or night out and have no idea what to wear, so you tip out your entire wardrobe and it becomes a stressful situation! However much you love fashion we can’t always magically throw together an awesome outfit in the shortest amount of time possible. Sometimes, you need to make a few tweaks and changes to make your outfit stand out. Here are five ways to make your outfit better in an instant:
1. Add a waist belt
Belts have grown in popularity in recent years and can definitely make your outfit better by either cinching your waist in to create a feminine hourglass silhouette or adding definition. When worn out of the belt loops, they can go over nearly everything, like oversized jumpers, skirts and t-shirt dresses, but just make sure you place it on your waist. It’s always worth having a couple of waist belts in your wardrobe, from the thin design to the chunky kind.
2. Incorporate texture
If you're outfit is lacking in texture, it can look dull and boring. Texture makes an outfit so much more interesting and can create contrast the same way bold colours can. There are various ways you can add texture such as with a bag, a cardigan, a jacket - whatever you see fit. Some of my favourite textures for winter include tassels, faux leather, suede, faux fur...the list is endless. Don't be afraid to get touchy-feely but don't go to over the top either.
3. Wear some unusual jewellery
Unusual jewellery pieces can make even the most boring outfit stand out. Pieces of custom made jewellery are more unique and can be personalised just for you, so consider looking for a couple that you love to get a beautiful collection started. You could also consider layering daintier pieces with statement jewellery pieces to add even more interest and texture!
If you have an unlimited budget, fine jewellery and costume jewellery are both really stunning and will add a bit of glam to your outfit. Just make sure your costume jewellery is not the kind that’s going to discolour after a few wears.
4. Add another layer to your look
Throughout the winter months your outfit can always use another layer to keep your warm yet stylish. A few examples includes cardigans over a long sleeved top, a knitted jumper over a shirt, long boots over skinny jeans or you can even go one step further and pair ripped jeans with fishnets! There are so many different ways you can layer, so just have fun and experiment!
5. Try a new hair accessory
Your hair is something everyone sees as soon as they talk to you so by adding an accessory this could completely turn your outfit around. You can alternate your accessories for the season such as a cool bandana, or a silky patterned head scarf for spring/summer. Or for the winter how about a big floppy hat or a beanie? Some accessories even work all year round such as a fabulous headbands.
Do you have any tips for making an outfit look better?
