Hotel De Hallen Amsterdam Review

Not only were the streets of Amsterdam very photogenic but my hotel was too, so I thought I would share it with you; introducing the quirky but fabulous Hotel De Hallen.

This trip to Amsterdam was a surprise for the boyfriends birthday so when booking a hotel I wanted it to be really special (and it was!). Located in West Amsterdam, it was a little bit further out but still close to the tourist spots, the nearest tram was Ten Katestraat and as I had done my research we found it very easily. The hotel is part of a group called Vondel and they have several restaurants in their portfolio too.

As soon as you enter the hotel it makes an impression with a huge greenhouse on the front with a Moroccan vibe and lots of beautiful, aromatic plants.

The Reception

When we arrived we were greeted by the most friendly staff they even surprised us inside our room with a lovely happy birthday message for Blake along with some drink vouchers.

As you can see from the pictures below, the hotel is located in a former tram depot area so has one long corridor with rooms either side across two floors. The space is filled with industrial interiors, unique art pieces and quirky furniture including a photo area with a swing, which says: "Where am I".

Either side of reception is a cool red bar and the restaurant Remise 47 which unfortunately we never got round to trying.

Lets just say the place is very instagrammable and perfect for bloggers wanting to stay somewhere a bit unique.

The hotel room

We booked a standard double room which comes with an astoundingly comfy king size bed, plus the lovely addition of a white robe and slippers. There were no exterior viewing windows in this room just a glass front backing onto a bright and airy corridor but it didn't feel claustrophobic. Our room was also outfitted with a Nespresso coffee machine, TV (including english channels), speedy Wifi, toiletries, air-conditioning, hairdryer, safe and a minibar.

I absolutely loved our stay at Hotel De Hallen, Amsterdam we will definitely be back! There was lots to see nearby including a local market, cute cafes and the trendy foodhallen which I will talk about in my next blog post coming soon - "My Amsterdam travel diary".

Have you stayed anywhere nice in Amsterdam?

  1. Looks like a lovely hotel. I like hotels to have a bit of character and this one seems to have it! We stayed on a houseboat when we visited Amsterdam. That was quite characterful too! Thanks for joining us on #FarawayFiles

  2. Is it expensive to stay? Looks nice and I love taking the family to Amsterdam. Outside of the red light district, it's a city full of amazing culture and history.
