This weekend my hometown of Stratford Upon Avon hosted their very own food festival in the town centre, having attended last year I was very eager to try the food and ciders on offer and find that it was bigger and better than last year. The food event included chef demonstrations with celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli leading, cookery workshops, local produce, live music, food trails and lots of businesses based in and around Stratford Upon Avon selling their quality food and drink products. Greek, Italian, Spanish plenty to tantalise your taste buds!
Although a three day food event I only attended the Saturday and lucky for me the sun was shining bringing with it LOTS of people and their cute doggies into Stratford Upon Avon. Starting at Henley street near Shakespeare's house me and the boyfriend came across the BBQ Train (literally) selling my boyfriends favourite food - MEAT! He treated himself to some delicious ribs in BBQ sauce.
Further down there was another meat stall called Wild Game Meat who also have a website selling different types of sausages, hams and salami and if you're a fan of Spanish paella there were plenty of stalls to choose from too!
The stall that impressed us the most was a lady selling GLUTEN FREE cheesecake something me and the boyfriend have never seen in Stratford Upon Avon before with him being celiac. I though the name of the company was amazing too "When its scone its gone" and I hope to see more gluten free stalls next year. We had a massive slice of blueberry, casiss and elderflower to share for a reasonable £4 I can't put into words how delicious it was.
Afterwards we wondered towards the river avon me being distracted by the massive pimms teapot and the cider bar but also more FOOD! Including Barry the butcher who makes the best hot dogs in town and one of my favourite restaurants Carluccios with all the mushrooms you could think of plus Italian pasta, focaccia and arancini balls.
Did you attend the food festival? Let me know in the comments.
