An Unforgettable Holiday at Dreams La Romana

At the end of April I flew to the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominican Republic with the boyfriend and the best thing about it, it didn't cost us anything! I won this holiday through Holiday Pirates which you can read about here and now I get to finally tell you all about my dream holiday at Dreams La Romana.

The luxury all inclusive resort is situated on the southeast coast of The Dominican Republic in Playa Bayahibe, La Romana which takes about 45 minutes to travel to, from Punta Canta airport. In total Dreams have four resorts in Dominican Republic which all look just as beautiful as La Romana, I'm hoping one day I can visit them all!

Rooms

When we arrived to our room, the bed was decorated in beautiful pink flowers with robes and slippers which was lovely after a long eight hour flight. We were situated on the third floor with a wooden roof so when it rained the first couple of nights it was very loud but as soon as we asked if we could move rooms they let us straight away! Excellent customer service. If you pay more and opt for the preferred club your room is more luxurious but we hardly spend much time in our room when on holiday anyway.

The Beach

By far one of the best parts of the resort, this picture below sums up how beautiful the beach was. Soft sand, crystal clear water and more importantly cocktails delivered to your sunbed! The sea was pretty warm too, being that it was the Caribbean and I could go far out and still touch the floor!

Every morning when we arrived on the beach the staff would be cleaning the sand and making the beach look presentable, I had never seen anything like it! Plus if you didn't fancy sunbathing all day, all the water sports were included, we went out on a catamaran which terrified me!

For food you didn't have to venture far, there was the barefoot grill every afternoon serving burgers plus a bbq cooking up a different dish every day including paella and fish straight out of the sea! And not forgetting the fruit lady! Everyday there was fresh pineapple, bananas and melon to go around all served on a boat.

Food and Drinks

Where do I start? All the food and drink was amazing, with 11 restaurants and 7 bars in total there was so much choice and most importantly they catered for my boyfriend who is gluten free. Being there for a week we got to experience most of the restaurants but our favourites were Jungle which was local Dominican cuisine, seaside grill and oceana which both served seafood and overlooked the sea. Then finally Himitsu where I got to experience teppanyaki for the first time!

I also lost count of how many cocktails I had whilst lapping up the Caribbean sunshine because the bar staff would make you anything you wanted, my two new favourite cocktails are bahama mama and miami vice. Plus an extra perk is that most of the spirits are branded!

Entertainment

One great thing I noticed is that Dreams La Romana catered to all ages - families, elderly and couples so there is really something for everyone. Everyday there was a different entertainment schedule from morning until dusk, including aerobics on the beach which was so much fun and a disco every evening. We spent most of our evenings by the lobby bar or watching the live entertainment.

We were also lucky enough to experience the Mexican festival Cinco de Mayo which showed off their true entertainment skills. Not only did they have a huge mexican stage on the beach but they had music from a mariachi band and lots of alcohol! Pina coladas out of pineapples and "too much tequila" margaritas!

Last but not least the swimming pools were great, especially the infinity pool with its own swim up bar! I ended up getting badly sunburnt because I was sitting there for way too long enjoying the cocktails.

Overall our experience at Dreams La Romana was unforgettable, could not fault this beautiful resort one bit, the staff are a real credit to them. Look forward to coming back one day!

  4. The resort looks beautiful! How fun to have so much included and what a lovely place to relax. I would have probably stayed too long in the infinity pool and gotten sunburnt too!
