Valentines Weekend at the Malvern Spa

On Friday I booked the day off work as the boy was taking me for a surprise spa day, I had been trying to guess all week where we were going, so when we finally arrived at the Malvern Spa I was speechless. Malvern is such a beautiful place in Worcestershire only an hour from me. You may have heard of it because it's most famous for the Malvern hills & its spring water.

On arrival we were greeted by the lovely receptionist who gave us the key to our room where there was a massive king size bed, power shower & robes with slippers.

Then we headed down to the hydro pool which was both indoor and outdoor, I felt like I had gone abroad for the day! This had numerous individual features including bubble massage stations, powerful water jets, gentle hydrotherapy beds and booths to sit and relax while soaking in the warm Malvern spring water.

Inside the Malvern spa there was also a thermal suite consisting of:

  • A Salt grotto made up of salt steam which is meant to have a restorative effect on the respiratory system and skin.
  • A Crystal steam room infused with essential oils that fill the air with relaxing aromas. A fantastic way to open the pores and relieve tension in your body.
  • A Herb sauna where seasonal herbs and natural essential oils are gently steamed to cleanse the body and mind.
  • A Kelo sauna which is the first of its kind in the UK, this unique rustic sauna is constructed from naturally fragrant wood found only in the Arctic Circle.
After exeriencing the thermal suite you have to cool off. First visit was the ice fountain which involves scooping handfuls of crushed ice from a large central fountain and rubbing vigorously onto the skin to stimulate circulation and close the pores. Then there is a bucket (drench) shower which instantly drenches you in chilled water for an exhilarating end to your fire and ice experience. That was the most chilling part!

For the spa treatment we picked out the ESPA full body massage which lasted an hour using oils starting from my feet to my shoulders. This was the most relaxing part of the spa day! Viola the masseuse said I had lots of knots in my back which doesn't surprise me because I sit down a lot at work.

In the evening we sat down for a romantic meal in the restaurant which is all local produce. We couldn't fault the food one bit.

Overall our stay at the Malvern Spa was amazing the staff were friendly & accommodating and the spa speaks for itself! I definitely can't wait to go back.

Happy Valentines love Liz
