Affordable Autumn Fashion Trends

Even though it feels like Autumn in the UK already, it isn't officially until 22nd September and I am literally counting down the days because I am that excited! There is so much to look forward to, including events such as halloween and bonfire night and then there's the fashion trends which is what I am going to write about today.

After wearing dresses and sandals for far too long, I am very much looking forward to throwing on a woolly jumper and ankle boots. The high street and shopping sites like Lyst are already starting to bring out their Autumn collections and I think it doesn't hurt to get prepared for the trends to come and oh boy are they good!

Plaid and checks

For Autumn, plaids and checks are making a comeback, seen on the runways of
Anna Sui and Tory Burch you really cant go wrong with a shirt or scarf and less is more, but the one piece that is really making a stir is a plaid oversized blazer. Style it up with a slogan tee, some killer pants and heels.

La Redoute Plaid Jumper £45

Red

Too much red is not an option when it comes to this trend, the number one tip is to mix and max different hues together and just go for it. This autumn trend is so easy to pull off because you can wear absolutely anything from jeans to dresses. Red also feels very Autumnal bringing colour and warmth to your wardrobe but on the other hand it can be very sophisticated when worn to a fancy party.

Oversized Blazers

This 80s trend has been given a contemporary makeover, think really oversized and shoulder pads. The best thing is the oversized part which means lots of room to move around in and be comfortable.
Finish your cool blazer look with a blouse underneath, and slouchy trousers for the perfect work wear attire. There really is a shape, colour and style of blazer to suit everyone.

Nasty Gal Yellow Blazer £22

Boohoo Flare Sleeve Grey Blazer £15

Velvet

After hitting the big time in 2016, the velvet trend is back with a bang. Think bright coloured velvet, to make a statement. The only thing tricky about this trend is when it comes to trousers, because I know I for one wouldn't be able to pull them off because I'm short. The two pieces I really want to get my hands on for Autumn are a velvet slip dress so I can wear it over a rocky t-shirt and some ankle boots!

ASOS Velvet Midi Skirt £10.50

New Look grey velvet top £10

Public Desire velvet boots £15

Boohoo Velvet Frill Dress £20

Padded Coats

Another outerwear option for when it gets that little bit colder is a padded coat, super comfy and stylish all at the same time. I remember when I visited New York over five years ago and literally everyone was wearing one and I still haven't managed to buy one, but 2017 is definitely the year. I will always spend a little more on a coat because you get so much wear out of them.

Matalan Burgundy Padded Coat £35

Asda longline padded coat £18

What Autumn trend are you most looking forward to?

  9. I could get on board with the oversized blazers. I'm not such a fan of bright red or velvet though. Each to their own :)

  10. I'm really enjoying all the shirts being back as I love wearing them. I like the reds too but I don't think it suits me that well. I love the red smock dress though. I'm not a fan of the velvet trend at the moment though!
